Scholarship

Academic excellence is the foundation for our future success. The Greek community at Chico State is devoted to creating an environment that is conducive to learning. Academics are a primary focus of Greeks. You can expect to receive helpful guidance throughout your college years. In each organization, there are numerous majors represented and the well-rounded student can benefit from the experiences and advice of other students who have similar academic interests and goals.

Each chapter encourages success in academics through a system of support and study. In almost all groups, weekly study hours are mandatory and programs on topics such as time management and enhancing study methods are offered.

The InterFraternity Council does require at least a cumulative 2.25 GPA to participate in recruitment. Individuals chapters also hold their members up to a high standard of scholarship in order to qualify for leadership positions or to take part in other fraternity events.

Order of Omega, Greek Honor Society
Order of Omega is a nationally recognized Greek Honor Society that was established at the University of Miami in 1959. The purpose of this society is to recognize those students who have attained a high standard of leadership in inter-Greek activities, to encourage them to continue along this line, and to inspire others to strive for similar conspicuous attainment. It is also meant to bring together the most representative fraternity and sorority members, and to create an organization which will help to mold the sentiment of the institution on questions of local and intercollegiate affairs.

The Theta Rho Chapter of Order of Omega established here at California State University, Chico in 1988 is continually striving to recruit those members of the Greek community who have attained a higher standard of scholastic and leadership achievement. Since its inception, Theta Rho has initiated over 600 outstanding leaders from within the Greek community. With every new member class, we seek to better exemplify what it means to be a true Greek leader at CSU, Chico.

The eligibility standards can be found on the first page of the membership application.
There is a one-time initiation fee of $50.00 which pays for National dues, badge, and a certificate of membership. These fees will be due after membership selection. Applications must be turned in to BMU 213 6 by 5:00 p.m. Friday, March 16, 2007.
